• The Briac was first developed by Paraboot about 30 years ago and had a strong moment in the '90s, earning the nickname "the 4x4 derby" in France — a reference to its thick ankle welt and deeply lugged sole. It went quiet for a while, and it's back now, which is exactly when something is worth paying attention to. Made in Portugal using Norwegian welt construction, Paraboot's hallmark method for building weatherproof footwear.
• The upper is Lisse América - a smooth, full-grain brown calfskin with a tight, burnished surface that takes polish well and develops a rich patina over time. Norwegian stitching runs the perimeter, leather-lined throughout. The standout feature is the sole: chunky, aggressively treaded rubber that gives the shoe its elevated stance and genuine all-weather grip.
